Famous UFO Crash Sites in the USA

1897 April 17th: Aurora, Texas

The story first appeared on 19th April 1897 and claimed that a strange airship had appeared over the town of Aurora. The craft then apparently crashed into a windmill tower and exploded. Some of the material recovered had strange hieroglyphic symbols on it. Also amongst the wreckage was that of an 'alien' lifeform which the townsfolk buried in the local cemetery.

1941 Cape Girardeau, Missouri

This little-known case is surprisingly well-supported by witness interviews conducted by UFO researcher, Leo Stringfield. A Ms. Charlette Mann received a deathbed confession concerning a UFO crash in this area from her Grandmother. She relates that her Grandfather, a local Reverend, was asked to perform last rites for a group of aliens (number not known) having the appearance of "Greys" (small, large heads, big eyes, small features). When her Grandfather approached the scene, it was already occupied by police, firemen, and medical personnel. A member of the congregation later gave the Reverend a photo of one dead alien being held up by two men. Though later sworn to secrecy by military personnel who confiscated all evidence, Mann's Grandfather was unable to keep the secret from his wife and his two sons, though little bits of information concerning the incident leaked out in the following years about this "family secret". It would not be known fully until Charlette's Grandmother would tell the full story on her deathbed in 1984.

1947 July 5th: The Plains of San Augustin, New Mexico (Roswell)

The Roswell incident seemed just to involve debris from a craft of some sort, as no main part of the craft/bodies could be found on the Brazel ranch. This led to speculation that the main part of the craft had managed to travel on before coming to rest. The Plains of San Agustin crash became one of the main candidates for this location.

The craft came down in an area west of Socorro, New Mexico, known as the Plains of San Agustin, where witnesses discovered a strange metallic object but also dead bodies.

1948 March 25th: Aztec, New Mexico

The “crash” incident occurred near Aztec, New Mexico, 1948. The disc that landed near Aztec was 99.99 feet in diameter and that it's exterior was made of a light metal resembling aluminum but so durable that no amount of heat or diamond drilling had any effect.

The disc apparently incorporated large rings of metal which revolved around a central stabilized cabin, using an unfamiliar gear ratio. There were no rivets, bolts, screws or signs of welding. Investigators were eventually able to gain access to the craft by pushing a knob with a long pole through a porthole which caused a hidden door to open. 16 small humanoids, ranging in height from 36 to 42 inches, were found dead inside the cabin, their bodies charred to a dark brown color.

1965 Dec 9th: Kecksburg, Pennsylvania

The Kecksburg UFO incident occurred on December 9, 1965, at Kecksburg, Pennsylvania, United States. A large, brilliant fireball was seen by thousands in at least six U.S. states and Ontario, Canada. It streaked over the Detroit, Michigan – Windsor, Canada area, reportedly dropped hot metal debris over Michigan and northern Ohio, starting some grass fires, and caused sonic booms in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. It was generally assumed and reported by the press to be a meteor after authorities discounted other proposed explanations such as a plane crash, errant missile test, or reentering satellite debris. However, eyewitnesses in the small village of Kecksburg, about 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, claimed something crashed in the woods.
